J.J. McGrath - Both commercially and critically, Shin Megami Tensei IV appears to be a big hit for the video-game developer Atlus, a brand of the Index Digital Media Inc. unit of the Index Corp. (TYO:4835). And thats a good thing for everybody concerned because the bankrupt parent company appears poised to begin auctioning its assets as early as this week, Bloomberg News reported, citing a couple of sources familiar with the matter.

iDigitalTimes: ''Atlus bankruptcy news time. The famed RPG and quirky game maker is in a tight spot now, through no fault of its own. Its parent company has been implicated in certain shady dealings, best not discussed in polite company, and is on the verge of splitting up THQ style. Atlus, the most interesting part of the excitingly named Index Corporation, is up for sale. And guess what? Nintendo is going to buy it.''

"2013 has been an amazing year for Nintendo's handheld console. We've had awesome releases like Fire Emblem Awakening, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Shin Megami Tensei IV also released just this week. For some, these may have made the purchase of their 3DS worthwhile, however it's worth nothing that 2013 isn't even close to over yet and Nintendo's handheld still has a ton of gas left in the tank." - David Wales
